Why programs found on the Internet don't work (for you)

Free programs, apps, celebrity plans: they promise quick results, but they have one thing in common. They weren't designed for you. Here's why they often end up stalling.

It has never been easier to find a training program. A few clicks are all it takes to download a "12-week bulking" or "express cutting" plan. And yet, many people give up after a few weeks, disappointed by the results, sometimes even injured.

The problem doesn't stem from their motivation. It stems from the program itself.

A program designed for everyone is designed for no one

A generic program is written for an "average" person who doesn't exist. It doesn't know your level, your body type, your injury history, or your schedule.

It offers the same exercises, the same weights, and the same progression to a 45-year-old beginner and a 22-year-old athlete. Naturally, it cannot be perfectly suited to both.

The four limits of the opening credits

1. It ignores your body. As we saw with the squat, your proportions and mobility change the optimal way to perform an exercise. A standard program cannot take this into account.

2. It ignores your starting point. Too easy, and you'll plateau. Too hard, and you'll burn out or get injured. The right volume and intensity depend on your actual fitness level and your ability to recover.

3. It ignores your life. Three 90-minute sessions per week sounds ideal on paper. If your schedule only allows for two 45-minute sessions, the program quickly becomes impossible to follow.

4. It doesn't adapt. Your body progresses, gets tired, evolves. A rigid program doesn't change with you. When results slow down, no one is there to adjust.

What a customized program changes

A customized program starts with you, not a template. Before writing the first session, I analyze:

  • your morpho-anatomy: your proportions, your mobility, your posture;

  • your physiology: your physical condition, your recovery, your reaction to exertion;

  • your daily life: the time you have available, your equipment, your training location;

  • Your goals: weight loss, muscle gain, fitness or performance.

Each exercise, each weight, and each progression is then chosen for you. And above all, the program evolves: according to your progress and how you feel, it is adjusted so that you continue to move forward.

The right program is the one you can follow.

The best program in the world is useless if it doesn't fit your lifestyle. A plan tailored to your body and your pace is one you stick to over time. And it's consistency, far more than the perfect program, that delivers results.
